My first weekend in jail, there was much excitement about the CKB class for the upcoming Monday. My block inmates described them as “the couple that does the CKB classes“ unfortunately for some reason we were kept from attending that Monday class and there were many disappointments in women. I attended every other bible study, AA, domestic violence and Catholic Church class that the jail offered during the following week, mostly to get out of the block and have a little variation in my schedule. Nothing too life-changing…until the following Monday, I could feel the excitement as it got time nearer for Dr K and Ms B to come. I walked in the room and felt the love of this couple, the love that they had for all of us. I couldn’t help but love them back when they described what they do and why they do it my respect and love for them grew. Their energy, their passion and love is priceless, I thank God. I could go on and on, it just makes me want more of them. I can’t wait to exit these walls and join forces with them, as they encouraged me to find and develop my gifts, my inner image in Christ. I believe God has trusted them to minister to me these last six weeks and my heart is forever changed.

When I was in block three, an inmate invited me to join the CKB classes. I never expected to love them, but I did. My first class was amazing. I felt free and safe after hearing Dr. K and his beautiful wife Ms B speak. I had many questions, but everything they said was meant for me. I felt God spoke to me through them. The first night, I prayed and thanked God for answering my prayers through CKB. Since then, I see the positive changes in my life. I learned to share my commissary, be humble, and patient. Every Monday since I started, I’ve attended every CKB class, which fills my heart spiritually. One day, I talked to my husband over the phone and he said I had to call my brother. I knew it was serious, so I called my brother right away, he told me our mother had passed away. I cried and had many questions. I felt like a loser. Why was this happening while I was in jail? Dr. K and Ms B answered all my questions. I’m grateful they shared that our bodies are temporary and our spirits will continue to live on. Their classes helped me a lot during my time in jail. Even though I’m sad my mother is gone, I’m happy our spirits will be reunited one day, when it’s time.  Now, I read scripture more, and I pray more, my life has changed. I shared my CKB class lessons with my husband over the phone. I asked him to share them with our children. I’ve changed so much since attending, I even apologized to my husband for everything and thanked him for taking care of our children while I’m incarcerated. I notice a calmness in my interactions with him and the kids. Thank you, Dr. K and Ms. B, for coming for us. God bless you, please keep doing what you are doing.

I really enjoy CKB classes. They donate their precious time and it makes you feel special, because they really care. The humor and Bible teaching they bring makes time go by quickly.  I’m thankful for them coming. It’s just like God sending His angels right into the jail.

I was raised Catholic, attended church, and had my first communion. My faith was shaken when my father left and my mother was abused by a drunken boyfriend. I was angry with God, but still believed in Him, but I had felt lost in faith and struggled with my past.

 

Then I met KJ. From our first class, I noticed a difference. I began to pray more and ask for a Bible. I had ADD and struggled with reading and spelling, but after your classes, I know I’m perfect in Christ. I must change my words because I’ll become a slave to what I say out of my mouth.  I’m listening more now to my Lord and know He’s speaking.

 

Thank you and your wife for taking time to help us. I’m saying thank you for those who can’t and won’t. You’ve been a significant part of my changes. Thank you for reaching out to my wife while I’m here. It’s helping.

 

I love you both. You’re amazing. Thank you for everything you’ve done. With the help from my Father in heaven and His word, I’m experiencing a transformation.

Growing up I've always battled with self esteem issues.  Even when I lost weight I was still unaware of the image I held inside and out.  I was never the type of girl that was pampered and wore makeup, etc.  I'm more so timid and reserve; a behind the scenes type of person.  However, when I attended this inspiring event, my perspective on myself changed.  Through various activities and words of empowerment shared, I was able to re-define myself and the nature of what beauty truly is. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and God has created us all beautiful no matter the shape, size or shade.  I can honestly say that this experience was very uplifting and made me feel good about myself for a change.

At a place, I’ve never imagined being, I felt lost, and unworthy of the life that was handed to me.  I have four beautiful children, and the only time I’ve truly felt that I wasn’t alone, and that I was still loved was when CKB (formerly Beauty Is) came and spoke to our group.  The energy could be felt that Keith and Bridget were truly full of the love of Jesus, and reminded me that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, that we have the power to see ourselves as perfect as Jesus sees us.  Bridget and Keith I cannot wait to see you on the other side, you are beautiful people!

Minister Keith and Bridget helped me to get through my time here by sharing love and a positive attitude with each other and everyone of us. They bring light into a dark place, and remind us that this is just temporary.  Everything will be okay and we can get through this.  Every time I go to this class I feel so much better. Ms. Bridget is a bright shining light in this world. She brightens everyone’s day with her smile, she extends herself for everyone and anyone she encounters, she is a fierce leader to everyone she meets and is my mentor.  Ms. B has showed me how to have faith in God and embrace my strengths and capabilities. Her guidance has lead me to promotion after promotion because of the skills she taught me. She taught me how to have courage, believe in myself and to stand up for what’s right and now I am closer to God through prayer. Ms B loved me through all of my processes and she will do the same for anyone she mentors, exuding happiness and joy. Her energy is contagious and her love is endless, she is one of the most important people in my life.

From the very first time I met Bridget, a/k/a Ms. B, I was totally captivated by her ability to draw in, as well as command the attention of everyone she was speaking to. Bridget and I worked together for several years and I would often have the pleasure of being present or just bypassing when she was giving one of her dynamic motivational speeches. Her words of encouragement inspired many people regardless of age or gender. She has a special way of connecting with young ladies and making them feel like anything is possible! When I later had the opportunity to work with her in ministry through her organization, I was so very honored to do so. I know that she has a true desire to help, inspire and encourage others. She is one truly amazing woman.

I attended the grand opening of CKB (formerly Beauty Is), and was so encouraged to know that it goes far beyond what can be seen on the outside.  It was a treat to hear women young and old share their beauty from the inside which made them beautiful on the outside.  Empowering women to be beautiful is what I love about CKB (formerly Beauty Is).

I really enjoyed myself at one of the CKB (formerly Beauty Is) events. I came in looking for the meeting to be one thing but it turned out to be a blessing and definitely a few confirmations. Since leaving I began sharing the experience with others. A few of my takeaways were that I loved how Ms. Bridget intentionally was mindful of the fact that beauty is not just about taking care of our outer appearance but the information was brought from a few different angles that made you think. Ms. Bridget and her consultants focused on the whole woman’s beauty from a holistic, spiritual, and self care perspective.
